On their way, the challenged constantly by freelance Knights- but Horace knows a thing or two about combat. Soon he begins to attract the attention of Knights and Warlords for miles around with his uncanny skill. Yet as Horace earns his reputation, Will and Evanlyn struggle for survival as slaves

In this final battle in the worldwide phenomenon that is Ranger's Apprentice, a kingdom teeters on the edge of chaos, victory lies in the hands of an inexperienced group of fighters, and it's anybody's guess who will make the journey home to Araluen
